Clan Oliphant People
Lawrence Oliphant (b. circa 1560)
Lawrence Oliphant took part in the famous Ruthven Raid and was subsequently sentenced to banishment by James VI. He was eventually lost at sea and was reported to have been sold into Turkish slavery.
Carolina Oliphant (1766-1844)
Carolina Oliphant named in honour of Prince Charles Edward Stewart, she became a renowned Jacobite poet. Her fame stems mainly from the fact that she wrote the lyrics for two very famous songs – “Charlie is My Darling” and “Will Ye No Come Back Again”.
